Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM) will operate a special metro service on Sunday, 19 July, to coincide with the live screening of the FIFA World Cup Final, featuring the Spanish national team, on the giant screen installed by Palma City Council at Son Fusteret. The special service is designed to make it easier for spectators to travel to and from the event.

The new facility will provide the electrical capacity needed to support future service frequency increases and enhance the reliability of the rail network. The infrastructure will provide SFM's maintenance depot with its own dedicated power supply, improving the safety of maintenance operations. The Council of Government has authorised Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM) to launch the tender process for the construction of a new electrical substation at the Son Rutlan railway depot.
