SFM resumes the Terminus building conference series this Tuesday with historian Gaspar Valero

The session will explore the evolution of the area around Palma station, from the Portes Pintades to the current Intermodal Station

Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM) is resuming its conference series at the Terminus building this September. The next session will take place this Tuesday, September 22, at 6:00 p.m., with historian Gaspar Valero as the speaker.

Under the title “The area around Palma station: from the Portes Pintades to the Intermodal Station”, Valero will trace the transformation of this part of the city and explain the changes it has undergone over time, leading to the current configuration of the Intermodal Station in Plaça d’Espanya.

The session coincides with Car-Free Day and is part of the activities organised by SFM as part of European Mobility Week.

The series, launched in December 2025, forms part of the outreach activities organised by SFM at the Terminus building. Since its launch, specialists from different fields have taken part and addressed topics related to the history of the railway in Mallorca, the preservation and promotion of heritage, the role of rail in the island’s economic and social development, and the present and future challenges facing the railway network.

Gaspar Valero i Martí is a historian, writer and cultural communicator, with a degree in History from the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). Much of his career has focused on the study and promotion of Mallorca’s history and heritage, particularly that of Palma, on which he has published numerous works and developed several cultural itineraries.
