The Government Strengthens Public Transport and Provides Special Metro Services for University Entrance Exams (PAU)

Students will be able to reach the various examination centres by public transport on June 2, 3 and 4.

The Government of the Balearic Islands, through Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM) and the Mallorca Transport Consortium (CTM), will provide a comprehensive interurban public transport service to facilitate travel to the university entrance examinations (PAU) on June 2, 3 and 4. In addition, metro services to the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) will be reinforced with special services during the three examination days.

The Government therefore recommends that students use the metro as their preferred means of transport to reach the UIB, in order to avoid possible traffic congestion on campus access roads and ensure they arrive on time for their exams. The reinforced service offers a convenient, fast and reliable alternative during the PAU examination period.

The special service scheduled by SFM will increase metro frequencies early in the morning, with additional departures from Palma Intermodal Station to the UIB. In addition to the regular weekday service, the public railway company has added the following departures:

– Intermodal–UIB, Tuesday, June 2: 7:05 a.m. and 7:50 a.m.

– Intermodal–UIB, Wednesday, June 3 and Thursday, June 4: 7:05 a.m., 7:50 a.m. and 8:05 a.m.

It should be noted that SFM improved the regular metro service during peak hours in March of last year by increasing frequencies throughout the period from 7:15 a.m. to 8:55 a.m., doubling services during the busiest time slots. These special PAU services are now being added to the enhanced regular timetable.

Through SFM and CTM, the Ministry of Housing, Territory and Mobility provides a comprehensive interurban public transport network that will enable students taking the university entrance examinations on June 2, 3 and 4 to reach the examination centres using TIB interurban buses, trains or the metro.

Most examinations will take place at the UIB, which can be reached by metro and by TIB bus routes 202 and 203. Students assigned to examination centres in Inca (Fàbrica Ramis), Manacor (IES Manacor) and Sant Llorenç (Espai 36) will also have access to a range of public transport services.

The Mallorca Transport Consortium (CTM) will reinforce bus services on routes with the highest number of students, if necessary, both early in the morning and in the afternoon, coinciding with the start and end times of the examinations.
